RED SEAL has been out in the world for two weeks now and I'm celebrating its release in ways that bring me joy.

I had a wonderful pub day eve launch event at bookstore where nearly 100 friends, family, and readers packed their courtyard in 90-degree heat. That kind of weather is unusual for October in LA, but people showed up. I felt embraced and uplifted by my community, and I couldn't stop smiling.

I did break down at one point during my talk. My mother and father attended and were sitting right in front of me. When I told the audience how thankful I was that my father shared his vulnerable stories, I lost it. They were happy tears, as I realized how close my father and I have grown since I started interviewing him years ago. He reviewed every draft of my novel with a magnifying glass until his 90-year-old eyes tired. He answered every question and provided details I would never have found in a history book. This novel wouldn't be here without him.

When my interview partner, Max Nikias, asked my father what he thought of my book, he declared it was "80% correct!" That brought a big laugh from the crowd. I'm so grateful to Max who asked such insightful questions, and the staff at who made everyone feel at home and welcomed.

As Linda the owner of the bookstore said, "we sold so, so many books!" That's music to my ears.

Upcoming Events

I'm heading back East for some other events that will bring me joy!

I have an event planned at Powerhouse Books, the bookstore where I held my launch event for WHITE MULBERRY, at its new Columbus Circle location. I will also be speaking on multiple campuses where I have been a student. I love these full circle moments!

I'm attending a gala to benefit KoreanAmericanStory.org, the organization that filmed the interviews of my parents. Parts of these interviews informed RED SEAL, so I want to support them.

These places all have a special place in my heart and I'm excited to participate!
